This type of conveyor belt uses fiber fabric as the core and general rubber as the covering material, with a smooth and flat surface (Figure 1). The core is a layered or integral fabric woven from fibers such as cotton, nylon, polyester, or vinylon.
  • Cotton Fiber: The earliest used core material, easy to bond with rubber. Its strength slightly increases when wet, but its breaking strength is low (mostly around 56 N/(mm · layer)), and its anti-corrosion and mildew resistance is poor. Its use is gradually decreasing.
  • Nylon Fiber: Used since the late 1950s, nylon has become the most widely used core material. It features a high strength of up to 700 N/(mm/layer) and is water, corrosion, and bending fatigue-resistant. However, its elastic elongation is relatively large.
  • Polyester Fiber: Offers similar properties to nylon, but its elastic elongation is only half that of nylon, making it a highly promising material for future development.
  • Vinylon Fiber: Features a strength of 200 N/(mm · layer) and smaller elastic elongation than nylon. It is easy to bond with rubber and has good heat resistance, but its strength decreases by 10-25% when wet.
When weaving the core, only one type of fiber can be used, or two types of fibers can be blended or interwoven.

  • Adhesive Thickness Guidelines: Ordinary and food-grade belts require a minimum upper cover adhesive thickness of 3.0mm and lower cover of 1.5mm. For heat-resistant, cold-resistant, acid-alkali, and oil-resistant belts, the minimum upper cover is 4.5mm and lower cover is 2.0mm. Depending on specific conditions, thickness can be increased by 1.5mm.
